Valentine’s Handmade Bunnies

Happy Mom Monday friends! I thought I would share some shots of the most precious bunnies my mom handmade for the girls for Valentine’s day. She used bits from their old clothes, to make them extra special. I absolutely love them as do the girls. My mom does not forget any detail, each bunny came in a handmade pouch made from old cashmere sweaters, with a pink cashmere heart sewn on each one. Seriously how adorable right? Such a sweet keepsake, I just love that I can remember each one of the outfits she used, and they hold such special memories.

Mom Monday {Capes & Wings}

Today’s Mom Monday is a spotlight on an amazing creator Lovelane. I came across the work of Lovelane on Instagram recently and instantly fell in love. I mean her accessories play perfect to a child’s imagination. From quilted wings, to gladiator style superhero girls, this stuff is just absolute perfection. I love Lane’s commitment to quality and creating an heirloom for a child. Something they can cherish forever. What can I say I am smitten! I have included my favorites from her collection below. Super Secret Job Revealed!

Remember that super secret project we were working on a few weeks ago, well I am so excited to finally be able to share the results. Our very own intern turned full time designer Sarah had the opportunity to attend The Ellen Show a few weeks ago. Together with Czar Press we hand crafted this very special gift for Ellen and Portia and here are the gorgeous results!!

Sarah hand made these fabulous matchbook style boxes, and the stationery was hand letterpress printed with a subtle edge painted detail.

Craft Camp for grown ups!

I just thought I would share with you what is on my mind recently. I am trying to figure out how I can get to The Makerie next year. For those of you not familiar, it’s basically like my dream come true. A 2 day craft retreat where you choose your workshops, enjoy meals with your craft mates, complete with yoga and hiking! I mean seriously who wants to go with me? How can we make this happen!?

I love the way the Ali describes how The Makerie came to be. Here is an excerpt “…this journey began in pre-school where we were given endless opportunities to explore our creativity. Every child was an artist and I fell in love with making things by hand…The heart of the Makerie is to honor the creative spirit in all of us. When creativity becomes part of your life, you look at the world in new ways, you become more playful, and the possibilities seem endless. For me, I have always been a dreamer and hold the utmost admiration for people who follow their dreams…”

The workshops include food styling and food photography workshops by the brilliant Aran Goyoaga of Cannelle et Vanille, crochet magic taught by Jenny Doh, and shoot your product taught by Alessandra Cave. There are tons more workshops too…go check them out. Then come back and tell me, who’s going with me!?

DIY Project {sparkle ornaments}

I recently needed a last minute ornament for an ornament exchange I attended, so I whipped up one of these at midnight the night before the party! It was so well received I figured I would share with you how to make one yourself. It is so easy, and the results are quite sparkle fabulous!

You will need: 1.a shot glass or  a bottle with a small opening  2.glue (preferrably Gem-Tac)  3.Small rhinestones (preferably swarvoski crystals)  4.toothpicks  5.ornaments that need some extra sparkle  Another tip that really helps you pick up the tiny little stones is if you put a small amount of glue on the end of a toothpick and allow it to dry completely. Then you can use the end with the dried glue to pick up the stones! It works great!

Step 1- Place your ornament on the opening of a shot glass or bottle, hook side down.  Step 2- Take the tiniest amount of glue on the end of a clean toothpick and make small tiny dots all the way around the ornament in alternating lines (this does not need to be exact so not to worry)  Step 3- Take your toothpick with the dried glue and pick up the stones one at a time. Very lightly press one into each dot of glue. Allow to dry and voila!

If you want to take this one step further, adorn each with a fun colored ribbon. Don’t be afraid to play with different colors and shapes of ornaments. Go dig up some old ornaments in your attic and give them a makeover. These make great handmade gifts! Good luck! Send me any pictures if you decide to make some! xoxo

Paloma's Nest Love

I recently ordered something from Paloma’s Nest (I want everything on her site, its hard to restrain myself). I worked with Caroline to create a custom bowl for a dear friend of mine as a wedding present. The bride and groom used imagery of feathers and hibiscus throughout their ceremony and reception in memory of close relatives that had passed away. We used these special images along with their names and wedding date to adorn this gorgeous bowl. Thank you Caroline!! So in love with it, and the happy couple was blown away.

I was also completely smitten with the packaging. I mean that little wooden thank you star!? LOVE!! Now I just need to get some custom ornaments, a garland…
