a DIY Valentines Day

I am a big fan of making valentines day low key, personal, and romantic. I usually skip the big fancy dinners on that night and go for something more meaningful, make a dinner at home and eat by candle light with a a great bottle of wine. Below are some ideas I had to make this valentines day special, meaningful, and affordable!

First and foremost there must be a card or love note (photos via the anthropologist). I like recalling some of my favorite memories from the year past and putting those down in a hand written love note. Next is food! I have always been a fan of breakfast in bed. There is something so indulgent about it. Almost like you are on vacation, room service anyone? My mother always made us (and still does actually) what our family calls “Special Pancake”, I believe most know it as Swedish Pancake or Dutch Baby. I have included my family recipe, it’s SUPER easy and so yummy I guarantee you will love it! Maybe serve that with some champagne and put a single flower on the tray and voila! Instant romance. Of course some vintage inspired lingerie like these from Anthropologie can’t hurt!
