I had so much fun planning Piper’s 5th birthday party. It was a welcome departure from the typical frozen/princess theme. I was super surprised actually that she asked for a superhero party, my tutu loving, girly girl, but it turned out so perfect and still so Piper. The color palette we chose together was gold and black. The invitations were gold foil on black heavy card stock and I had a lot of fun with the signage, superhero transformation station anyone?
The transformation station held custom made capes & masks for guests to adorn as they walked in the door. These were a huge hit with the kids! The capes are reversible FYI!!
I created a fun kids table adorned with custom made coloring books for the kids. I scattered little fun toys and confetti along the kraft runner. These fun little gifts along with the capes & masks were a great alternative to a goodie bag filled with candy. I made yogurt pops in a variety of shapes and flavors for a fun sweet treat. These were a huge hit with the kids and adults alike. I will be sharing the recipe shortly…
The hubby and I got into the spirit of things….such a great time. For more fun details on the party check out our feature over on the fabulous Grey Likes Baby!
Just a few things I have been obsessing over as of late…
Sometimes it’s nice just to have a few friends over for a night in. I love these ideas to make the evening just a little more special. These little touches can really make for a memorable evening. Like these mini margaritas with taco bites. I have always been a big fan of food and drink pairing, and this one just seems perfect. Or try a crostini bar, or these brilliant little jars spanish bar food in a jar. LOVE! An outdoor movie in the backyard would be such the perfect summer theme. I also loved this mamas night out party by the fabulous ladies of Beijos Events. Something I think would be so special is to gift each guest something, like they did at this Mamas party. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, and could certainly be homemade, but a little gift is such an unexpected and fun surprise for your guests I think.
Today’s inspiration to-go image is a snapshot I took of my laptop case by the amazing Krochet Kids. Love their products, what they stand for and everything about them! Plus this creates a super cool pattern don’t you think?
I have these daydreams of having a party inspired by things like The Black Apple and a magical fairy land. I love this vibe for a shower or birthday party! There are endless possibilities for details.
Reminiscent of when I hosted a Mad Tea Party for the Alice in Wonderland movie, we are going to have a Cinderella Movie Party. I cannot begin to explain the excitement that is happening in my house over the upcoming release of the Cinderella Movie. Cinderella happens to be Piper’s favorite princess so this is pretty big time. In celebration we are going to invite a few of her friends over for a little party and then go watch the movie together. Here are some inspirations that are filling my mind right now for the party…
Hello friends. Sorry for my absence yesterday, it took me a while to get caught up with everything waiting for me at home. It’s good to be home though and I will be sharing some details from our trip soon. In the meantime, I have holiday on the brain. Loving these festive styles for your upcoming holiday soirées.
I am sort of obsessed with dining alfresco now that summer is upon us. I love these ideas for a simple dinner party but also on a grander scale for an outdoor wedding!
Love this unique statement making presentation for oysters on the half shell!! Just pour a pile of ice, scatter your oysters and lemon slices and voila!
Use what’s around you like these adorable leaf details placed on each place. I love that there is a variety of leaves used too.
Don’t forget the candles. These mismatched candles are placed down the center of a long table providing mood lighting and the most magical touch.
Love this simple but brilliant idea to place a throw pillow on each chair. So pretty too.
How great is this casual yet chic setup. A low to the ground table is placed in the grass and guests sit on the ground upon blankets. Love the twinkle lights too.
Loving these rustic kraft paper plates used for an outdoor pizza night!
Individual baguettes wrapped in kraft colored parchment paper look so fabulous!
For Piper’s birthday party this year we had close to 50 adults and 20 children. It was a lot of people so we wanted to do something simple but still delicious for the food. We decided to do a bagel bar, and who knew, it was a HUGE hit. Parents and kids alike delighted in creating their own custom bagel sandwiches. It was really fun. Here are a few easy steps to create your own bagel bar for your next soirée.
Here are 5 ideas to steal for your the next birthday party you are planning.
