If you have been following our insta accounts here and here last week you know we were enjoying a week in Tulum. A little back story to why Tulum is so special to me. The hubs and I visited the Riviera Maya area almost 12 years ago and ended up getting married there shortly after. We honeymooned in Tulum and even returned for a Wiley Valentine creative retreat 9 years ago. Since then, the area has changed so much. Where the restaurants used to be just palapas on the sand now stand chic fabulous hotels and restaurants. They still have the rustic fabulous Mexico charm, but the style factor has definitely gone up a ton.
Not to be missed are the fabulous shops along the main drag in Tulum. My personal favorite was Caravana, filled with fabulous basics and handmade cotton gorgeous pieces. Lunch at Posada Margherita was definitely a stand out. You look out over the ocean, and your meal begins with the prettiest plate of housemade breads and a jar of the most delicious cauliflower. They make all their pastas in house and they use the freshest veggies. The cold pressed juices are not to be missed, and the best part, your kids will love all of this too! You can even do a little shopping just steps from your seat. Win win!
We had the most divine dinner at Hartwood, a restaurant that you will definitely hear about when you start looking into Tulum. And for good reason. The menu changes daily and is presented to you on a huge chalkboard. The ceviche we had was by far the most beautiful I have ever seen, topped with gorgeous seasonal fruits and flowers! So amazing! Breastfeeding with a view was a favorite memory of the trip for sure. Also don’t miss the gorgeous hand embroidered textiles and adorable kids dresses!
A favorite spot we discovered was Raw Love. They take such care to make their coconut yogurt each morning and pack their smoothie bowls with tons of superfood goodies! A great break from some of the heavier Mexican delights you may indulge in. Feel free to enjoy a matcha latte from the comfort of a hammock and don’t forget to walk several steps to the beach as it is absolutely breathtaking here.
These Tribord snorkel masks were serious game changers. With Piper never trying snorkeling before, and a few people in our group that can get a bit of anxiety from the typical snorkel breathing, these were amazing. Piper absolutely loved snorkeling as did everyone else. You can literally just breath normally while snorkeling and the mask never fogs up! Brilliant! Hartwood has a cookbook which is the perfect way to take a bit of Tulum home with you. This kaftan has a similar vibe to the Caravana one I snagged in town. This is the bikini Piper rocked much of the trip, and this dress is the same look as the ones I got for the girls.
As we get ready to take our annual family vacation I thought I would share with you my travel essentials. From comfy leggings, to comfy outfits for baby. Don’t forget extra outfits for baby. I also love to introduce new toys on the plane. They seem to be so much more fun for Greyson if she hasn’t seen them before. Also don’t forget snacks for you and baby.
Loving these fun ways to incorporate rose gold into your mama life. I mean a rose gold bib!? Rose gold stroller. Obsessed! Click on the photos to shop the post below. And enjoy mamas.
Mommy tales: I cannot believe Greyson is already 7 months old! How did we get here so fas? We introduced solid foods at 6 months. After a rocky start she took to most everything I gave her. Until about a week ago when she decided she didn’t really want to eat solid foods at all. Come to find out her bottom 4 teeth are all coming in at once. The teething pain really kicked in last night. She cried for close to 2 hours while trying to get her to go to sleep. I finally tried massaging her gums with my finger (something I found while frantically googling “how to soothe a teething baby”) I am not sure if she was just exhausted by that time or if it really did the trick but she fell asleep shortly afterward. She woke up again in the middle of the night crying but put herself back to sleep a bit after. Overall though Greyson is such a happy baby. Constantly smiling and bringing joy wherever she goes. So grateful for this little one. Happy Mom Monday friends!
Just a few of my favorite baby ballerina style pics for you today. There is something irresistibly cute about a baby in ballerina inspired clothes don’t you think?
Well I am just getting back in the swing of things, returning from 3 months of maternity leave. There are such mixed feelings about going back to work especially as a business owner, since Wiley Valentine is my other baby. But most of all I am super grateful to have the flexibility to work in the office some days, at home others, and bring Greyson with me when I am in the office. As I flood my camera with photos of my two princesses, as well as healthy recipes and all things kids and family, I decided to start a new instagram account, PiperGreyLife, for those that wanted a bit more of that. You can follow along here.
Hello my friends! Sorry for my absence. My little bundle of joy arrived 6 days early, and it’s a girl! I couldn’t believe it as I was so sure I was having a boy the entire pregnancy. Piper is beyond excited to have a little sister. We named her Greyson Sam, and we are smitten. Here are a few shots from our newborn shoot with the amazing Andrea Patricia Photography.
As we prepare for our little arrival, I have received lots of different ideas from parents on how to introduce Piper to her little brother or sister, and how to make the process easy and fun for her. I think we are at an advantage in terms of Piper’s age (5 years). I think Piper is at a great age to welcome her little baby with open arms. Now that said, I am definitely expecting some bumps in the road, and would love to know your advice as mothers. What did you guys do to help ease the transition?

As my due date approaches (2 weeks from today!), I have find myself nesting, packing bags, and prepping the nursery. Here I thought I would share what is in my birth bag. Mamas and mamas to-be what did you guys pack?
Today’s inspiration to-go image is a sampling of crib bedding I am considering for the nursery. These swatches are from Restoration Hardware and they are so adorable I can’t even stand it!
