A Disney Birthday!

7comments

Well we had such a great day yesterday I just HAD to share…We took Piper to Disneyland for the first time for her birthday (incidentally, my husbands first time as well). I was a little unsure how she might respond to all the action, the live characters, and the rides.

We took Piper on the Dumbo ride first and, to our surprise, she absolutely loved it! After each ride we went on she would say “More, More”. Too cute!

So the best part of the day was truly unexpected. Being a girly girl at heart, I could not wait to introduce Piper to the princesses. We waited on line patiently for 70 minutes (yikes!). We finally made it in to meet them…she was ok with them. But not overly impressed turns out.

We stumbled across Sulley from Monsters Inc., and guess who fell in love…? We were hysterical! It really made the day, seeing her face light up, and get so excited to meet him. Overall the day was a success, she powered through with no nap, went on Alice in Wonderland, Little Mermaid (among others) and had a blast! What a memory we made!

When the fabulous Joyce of La Vie le Gage approached me about collaborating on an Alice in Wonderland shoot I was super excited. If you haven’t noticed I am a huge Alice in Wonderland fan, so this was a dream project. We were featured on Style Me Pretty yesterday so be sure to check out the post for more lovely details!

We really had fun with this one, and designed a whole ton of paper products!

I loved hiding little fun details like the mushrooms and the top hats throughout the paper products.

Thank you so much Joyce for such a fabulous fun project, with such a great group of creatives!

Photography Inspired {Lorna}

I recently came across Lorna Freytag’s work and was instantly smitten. I mean her fairy tale children’s portraits are too gorgeous!! Lorna was kind enough to share a bit about her work and her process with us!

lorna1

Originally from Edinburgh,  Lorna Freytag has worked as a children’s photographer in New York,  Dubai,  London and Sydney. Her work has appeared in publications such as Junior,  Studio Bambini and Collezioni. She has also completed projects for Harrods and several exclusive children’s boutiques., Inspired by dark forests,  magical landscapes and old fairytales,  Lorna uses her imagination and unique style to produce spellbinding images. Each image is unique and created entirely by Lorna. From the first rough sketch to the final detailed retouching. You can pick  an existing background from her collections or have her create something bespoke.

From Lorna “For a bespoke image  I will produce some sketched proposals along with the quote and timescale. I photograph the children against a white background which I set up in the studio. A few days after the shoot I will edit the pictures and you will be emailed 10-15 of the best ones to pick from (at this stage they are still against a white background)., Your chosen image will then be retouched into the background and your childs portrait will be ready approximately 3 weeks later.”

Thank you so much Lorna for sharing!! I love seeing the different stages, the sketch to the final outcome!!

Hot off the Press: Pretty in Pink

I am so excited to share some of our latest work!  First, this custom birth announcement we did for Circle the Date in Los Angeles is so sweet and beautiful for introducing this little girl to the world.  The second design was for The Village Invites in New York, which is such a whimsical, garden bridal shower invitation, Enchanted Garden from the Soiree album.  This invitation truly encompasses whimsy with a rhyming scheme at the beginning of the invitation, a total Alice in Wonderland feel!

Also, I love the use of multiple pinks in each of these designs, it really adds dimension to the look!

Wonderland Inspired Shoot

Yes I never tire of Alice in Wonderland inspiration. This shoot I spotted over on Style Me Pretty is definitely one of my favorites I have seen. I love the dark, Tim Burton inspired vibe this shoot has. Event Design, Planning & Styling was done by Kate Miller Events and these gorgeous photos were shot by  Sarah Maren Photography.

Those mushrooms in the flower arrangements and that broach and flower bouquet…SWOON!! I adore all the little details that went into this shoot. I truly think this is a new and unique take on the Alice in Wonderland theme which seems to be quite popular lately.

Artist Inspired {Danny Roberts}

Our very own Jane sent me this link to Igor + André aka Danny Roberts blog post about his collaboration with Forever 21 and I was instantly smitten! As you may know by now I am a total sucker for all things Alice in Wonderland, and these gorgeous paintings Danny Roberts did are no exception.

They are absolutely stunning. And the coolest part…this video showing him actually painting them (super speed of course). Check it out below:

After learning a little more about this LOCAL artist I was even more impressed, he started his own clothing company at the age of 13. He’s a photographer and an artist does a ton of fashion week drawings and paintings . Talk about inspiring!

Here are a few of my favorites. I really can’t get enough of Danny Roberts’ work. He is so insanely talented I could look at his work all day!

And really? This Romeo and Juliet print!? How can you resist. Check out his work here and his blog here. Brilliant! Thanks Danny for inspiring me today!
