We have decided to get a twin bed rather than a toddler bed so we can invest in a nicer piece of furniture. Something feminine but modern with a touch of whimsy…

I would LOVE to hear your opinions! Which bed do you like best? Any experiences with toddler beds vs twin beds vs full beds?

When do kids transition into big kid beds? Anna is only 18 months and I want to hold her off for as long as possible, but we are expecting a baby in July and might want to use her crib for the new one. Decisions decisions.
We have an adorable twin hand-me-down I’d love to paint a bright color but I’d also consider an Ikea toddler bed because the rooms in our houses are small so a tinier bed would be more functional for space. I’ve heard Ikea twins require an ikea twin mattress though–not standard size-something to keep in mind.
Piper is 2 1/2 and she is still in her crib, however I know friends that have moved transitioned into big beds much earlier. The advice I have been given by friends is to hold off as long as possible. I have heard great things about Ikea toddler beds. Thanks for the advice Lesley!
